this has given rise to an ever increasing paradox of interacting with humans without physical human interaction.

webcam technology enables people to have their 15 minutes of fame. you can broadcast from your home to an audience that is global and on 24/7.

get a computer, add a webcam and an internet connection and voila you could be a star. great for exhibitionists.

this piece explores the filtered human interaction based on webcam technology. webcams used in conjunctions with instant messages create a displaced time reality...a technologically filtered human experience. webcams do not offer human interaction. they just continuously post sequential images. through this displacement and the obsession with human voyeurism i wanted to integrate another piece of human obsession, pets. as we mix technology and our obsessions with it, we reach a point where even though we are anonymous we still fully grant our obsessions control. we are obsessed with viewing college girls sleeping in their dorm rooms (for the perverts in us) we are obsessed with our pets and their "well being" (do cats really need clothes?) buying "treats" for pets in xmas alone sums to a 4 billion dollar industry. we seem to treat pets as our children, sometimes treat them even better than our real relatives. kitty scat cam satirically exposes human anonymity, by showcasing the need for 24 hour scat supervision. at least nobody will know that you went there.
